Senior Principal Embedded Software Engineer (Medtech)

What you will do

• Lead embedded software architecture, design, technical decisions, and lifecycle management for neuromodulation products.
• Evaluate software, hardware, security, communication, and RTOS approaches against product requirements.
• Collaborate with systems, electrical, quality, security, human factors, and project leadership teams.
• Provide technical direction and design oversight to distributed software teams and external partners.
• Investigate complex product issues through root-cause analysis, embedded debugging, and hardware/software integration.
• Advance Agile, DevOps, continuous integration, automated testing, and technical risk management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with 10 years of relevant experience, Master's degree with 8 years, or PhD with 6 years.
• Extensive software and embedded software experience.
• At least 3 years leading technical architecture or design for complex embedded systems.
• Experience with real-time RTOS software, including Azure RTOS/ThreadX schedulability analysis.
• Experience with embedded security, USB, drivers, ARM v8-M/M33, Bluetooth and RF telemetry, and board bring-up tools.
• Experience with IEC 62304 and IEC 60601-1 in a regulated medical-device environment, plus Agile-Scrum and DevOps practices.

Nice to have

• Experience with USB CDC/HID, TLS 1.3, X.509 certificates, encryption, and secure software updates.
• Experience mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction without direct authority.
