Infrastructure Engineering Director (AWS/Kubernetes)

Salary: $197,000–$246,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Set infrastructure strategy and standards for cloud provisioning, observability, disaster recovery, cost governance, and operational reliability.
• Lead and scale the infrastructure engineering organization, including hiring, career development, mentoring, and operational discipline.
• Design and evolve AWS, Outposts, Kubernetes, networking, service mesh, and compute infrastructure for resilience, scale, and cost efficiency.
• Define SLOs, SLIs, RTOs, and RPOs; establish runbooks, change management, incident response, post-mortems, and disaster recovery testing.
• Own vendor relationships, cloud spend, capacity planning, infrastructure adoption roadmaps, and build-versus-buy decisions.
• Lead complex production incidents and partner with engineering, product, and platform leadership on long-term infrastructure direction.

Requirements

• Significant experience leading platform engineering, SRE, or infrastructure organizations.
• Deep expertise in Kubernetes architecture, operations, scaling, cluster design, workload isolation, and multi-cluster management.
• Strong AWS expertise across VPCs, networking, IAM, EC2, EKS, cost management, and hybrid environments including Outposts.
• Experience with infrastructure strategy, operational runbooks, change management, incident response, post-mortems, disaster recovery, and resilience engineering.
• Experience defining SLOs, SLIs, alerting strategies, and business-aligned reliability metrics.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals, programming ability, automation experience, analytical skills, and stakeholder communication.

Nice to have

• Experience with Kong Mesh, Istio, Linkerd, Envoy-based systems, or other service mesh platforms.
• Experience managing AWS Outposts or hybrid cloud infrastructure.
• Experience operating infrastructure in regulated industries with strict security, auditability, segmentation, and uptime requirements.
• CNCF Kubernetes certifications such as CKA, CKS, or CKAD.
• Familiarity with Datadog, Prometheus, and distributed tracing systems.
