Accounting Operations Specialist (Financial Services)

Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States; corporate onsite role

Salary: $60,880–$91,320 annually. Geographic-specific pay structures may apply, including $66,960–$100,440 and $70,000–$105,000.

What you will do

• Prepare accurate and timely journal entries and account reconciliations for broker-dealer and wealth management activities.
• Review accounting transactions from internal administrative systems, third-party vendor systems, and manual processes.
• Research and resolve reconciliation issues, imbalances, and open suspense items while maintaining effective internal controls.
• Analyze balance sheet and income statement accounts, financial activity, trends, and unusual items.
• Support system and process improvements, including changes related to operating departments and new products.
• Assist internal and external auditors and provide information for regulatory filings and SEC, FINRA, and OCC examination requests.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration with an accounting emphasis; relevant finance or business education and experience may also be considered.
• At least one year of relevant professional accounting experience.
• Experience applying statutory or GAAP accounting standards in the insurance or financial services industries.
• Proficiency with end-user reporting tools, analytical skills, and the ability to work independently.
• Effective oral and written communication skills and knowledge of financial statements, analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling.
• SEC fingerprinting and completion of required FINRA-associated-person documentation are required.

Nice to have

• Certified Public Accountant designation or CPA candidacy.
