Plant Operator

Location: Elkhart, Indiana, United States; onsite at a retail shop

Salary: $20 per hour

What you will do

• Operate equipment for handling and producing packaged high-pressure and liquefied gas cylinders.
• Load, unload, sort, label, inspect, and fill cylinders according to procedures and regulations.
• Prepare cylinders and cryogenic vessels for filling, including manifold connection and evacuation.
• Move cylinders using carts, pallets, and forklifts; maintain inventory and complete quality-control documentation.
• Perform cylinder maintenance, clean the work area, and follow hazardous-material handling standards.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to read and understand material safety data sheets and safety procedures.
• Ability to perform basic calculations, including rates, ratios, and percentages.
• Ability to safely operate a forklift; training may be provided.
• Physical ability to work on the plant floor, detect environmental safety cues, and lift up to 60 pounds; up to 800 pounds with material-handling equipment.
• Strong attention to detail, communication, collaboration, and customer-service skills.

Nice to have

• Experience in manufacturing, filling, or loading operations.
• Familiarity with the gas, welding, safety-supply, or chemical industry.
