Intern - Software Development (AI Development)

Location: Hybrid from an office in Cedar Rapids, IA or Lake Saint Louis, MO; minimum three days per week in the office, with availability to work up to five days on-site.

What you will do

• Research and evaluate emerging AI technologies, tools, and frameworks.
• Support the development, testing, documentation, and implementation of AI-driven solutions and proof-of-concepts.
• Analyze business processes and workflows to identify automation and efficiency opportunities.
• Collaborate with software developers, business teams, and technical stakeholders to explore AI-enabled use cases.
• Prepare and analyze data for AI and machine learning initiatives, and validate related software enhancements.
• Document findings and project updates while maintaining regular stakeholder communication.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Familiarity with AI concepts, including machine learning, generative AI, natural language processing, and intelligent automation.
• Familiarity with Python, Java, or similar object-oriented programming languages, as well as data structures, databases, and data analysis.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Ability to adapt to change, learn new technologies, work independently and in a team, and maintain professionalism, ethical behavior, and confidentiality.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI-assisted development tools, AI platforms, or cloud-based AI services.
• Familiarity with software development methodologies and the software development lifecycle.
• Interest in researching and experimenting with emerging technologies.
