M&A Associate (Software)

Location: South Africa; remote

Partner One is a long-term investment group that acquires and grows successful enterprise software companies serving major corporations and governments.

What you will do

• Identify and source software businesses that meet acquisition criteria and performance metrics.
• Run targeted prospecting campaigns, build relationships with acquisition targets and sell-side M&A firms, and develop new business development strategies.
• Lead preliminary business and financial due diligence, opportunity analysis, and risk assessment.
• Manage the deal pipeline and drive acquisition opportunities through the full lifecycle from sourcing to execution.
• Conduct industry and market research and analyze investment materials to produce clear insights and presentations.
• Collaborate cross-functionally on data requests, due diligence, internal alignment, and deal execution.

Requirements

• 2–3 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, or corporate development.
• Prior experience with software M&A transactions.
• Strong academic performance from a top-tier institution and preferably an undergraduate degree in business or a related field.
• Professional maturity and confidence when interacting with C-level executives, along with strong sales, communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
• Solid accounting knowledge, financial modeling skills, and understanding of software business models and the M&A transaction lifecycle.
• Strong analytical and pattern-recognition abilities with advanced Excel proficiency.
