Data Science Manager (Sports Modeling)

Location: Hybrid role in Jersey City, New Jersey, United States

Salary: $149,000–$186,000 USD per year, with potential bonus and stock incentives.

What you will do

• Develop, iterate, and productionize machine learning models that predict sports outcomes and support betting products.
• Improve market offerings and pricing techniques in partnership with risk, trading, and product teams.
• Manage and develop a group of data scientists delivering production-ready models and company-wide analytical solutions.
• Lead data preparation from collection through cleaning, feature and model selection, dashboards, and data visualizations.
• Partner with stakeholders to identify opportunities, understand business KPIs, and improve business results through data.
• Present findings to senior leaders, lead cross-team forums, and improve data science processes and automation.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of industry experience in data science, analytics, or engineering.
• Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, economics, or another highly numerate discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Experience managing or mentoring data scientists or analysts.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills with high proficiency in Python or R and SQL.
• Strong understanding and application of Bayesian statistics, production modeling, object-oriented coding, GitHub, and command-line tools.
• Ability to work across teams, locations, and time zones, including nontraditional hours when required.
