Bench Technician Associate (Automotive)

Location: Detroit, Michigan, United States. The 12-month contract may require up to 20% travel for training and team meetings.

What you will do

• Install, upgrade, modify, repair, and commission hardware and software components for the bench fleet.
• Assemble and rework wiring harnesses using schematics, technical documentation, prints, cut sheets, and hand tools.
• Validate signal paths, network functionality, configuration management, and scheduling mechanisms across sites and platforms.
• Perform daily diagnostics, triage, engineering tasks, and end-of-line commissioning independently or in small teams.
• Document configuration, diagnostic, triage, and bench-health events using systems and automated tools.
• Track project inventory and maintain a clean, organized workspace.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent and two years of employment experience.
• Extensive knowledge of computer hardware, server-rack installation, and wire-management techniques.
• Ability to create, modify, and install wiring systems and harnesses.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, including collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• Knowledge of Google Sheets, Docs, and Slides.
• Ability to work safely in close quarters, independently or with minimal supervision, and adapt to evolving technology and software.

Nice to have

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering technology or a related field.
• Experience flashing and re-flashing automotive control modules and operating CAN bus systems.
• Basic networking technology and troubleshooting knowledge.
