Senior Systems Engineer

Location: Remote within the continental United States; must be a U.S. citizen and hold an active Top Secret security clearance or DHS/CBP suitability.

Salary: $180,000–$210,000 annual base pay.

What you will do

• Lead and contribute to the design, integration, deployment, and sustainment of mission-focused systems.
• Translate mission, operational, and stakeholder needs into technical requirements, system designs, interface definitions, acceptance criteria, and implementation plans.
• Partner with software engineers and data scientists to integrate applications, data pipelines, infrastructure components, and external systems.
• Support system integration, test planning, verification and validation, troubleshooting, and operational readiness.
• Develop reliable, secure, and scalable systems for data-intensive applications and complex mission workflows.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship and a current Top Secret security clearance or DHS/CBP suitability.
• Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, computer science, information systems, software engineering, or a related technical field; four additional years of experience may substitute for the degree.
• 8+ years of professional experience in systems engineering, software systems integration, technical architecture, requirements development, or mission system sustainment.
• Experience translating mission and stakeholder needs into technical requirements, system designs, acceptance criteria, and implementation plans.
• Working knowledge of APIs, databases, cloud or cloud-like environments, containerization, and CI/CD workflows.
• Experience with integration, testing, verification and validation, troubleshooting, agile delivery, and stakeholder communication.

Nice to have

• 10+ years of systems engineering experience in mission, defense, homeland security, intelligence, or operational technology programs.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, OpenStack, Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, ArgoCD, Harness, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions.
• Experience with observability, monitoring, logging, alerting, performance analysis, and reliability improvement.
• Familiarity with Kafka, Flink, SQL databases, PostgreSQL, Apache Iceberg, data stores, and data lake or table formats.
• Experience coordinating with software engineering, data science, DevSecOps, cybersecurity, customer, and mission user communities.
