Software Engineer (Trust & Safety)

Location: Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom; hybrid work with two office days per week

What you will do

• Build and maintain React-based Responsible Gaming tools.
• Develop Java backend code, APIs, and services processing high volumes of signals, events, and enforcement actions.
• Build database-backed functionality that operates reliably and scales with high traffic.
• Deliver full-stack features, fixes, and improvements with support from experienced engineers.
• Test changes, investigate bugs, improve reliability and observability, and maintain technical documentation.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, operations, and compliance stakeholders through code reviews, design discussions, and planning.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience with React or a similar component-based frontend framework.
• Understanding of Java or a similar object-oriented language, with interest in backend services and APIs.
• Familiarity with databases and SQL, data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
• Understanding of testing fundamentals and willingness to write tests during everyday development.
• Interest in distributed systems, reliability, monitoring, and high-traffic production systems.
• Comfort working collaboratively, receiving feedback, investigating root causes, and improving code and documentation.

Nice to have

• Interest in platform integrity, Trust & Safety, fraud detection, or compliance systems.
• Familiarity with cloud technologies, containers, or CI/CD.
