Senior Software Engineer, Add-Ons (Python)

What you will do

• Deliver major features and architectural improvements across automated moderation pipelines, Reviewer tools, and DevHub.
• Build and operate reliable Python/Django, MySQL, React/TypeScript, and asynchronous processing systems.
• Improve observability, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code practices, deployments, monitoring, and incident response.
• Create internal developer platforms and tools that enable safe, consistent software delivery and operations.
• Establish engineering standards for production readiness, testing, recoverability, documentation, code review, and on-call practices.
• Collaborate with engineers, reviewers, developer support, designers, product managers, QA, and community contributors while mentoring peers.

Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience building and maintaining production applications with Python and Django.
• Experience operating reliable production systems and debugging complex issues across frontend, backend, asynchronous jobs, data stores, and infrastructure.
• Strong experience with CI/CD, declarative pipelines, infrastructure as code, automated testing, integration testing, and progressive delivery.
• Strong understanding of observability, including metrics, logging, tracing, service-level objectives, and actionable alerting.
• Experience building internal tools or platforms and improving engineering practices such as runbooks, incident response, operational readiness, and definitions of done.
• Strong technical writing, collaboration, communication, mentoring, and knowledge-sharing skills in a distributed environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with Google Cloud, Kubernetes, infrastructure-as-code tooling, or policy-as-code.
• Experience with SLOs, error budgets, chaos engineering, disaster recovery testing, or production readiness reviews.
• Experience with trust and safety, automated moderation, abuse prevention, adversarial systems, or open-source contributions.
