Platform Engineer

Location: Bethesda, MD, United States. The role supports U.S. Federal customers and requires U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret eligibility.

What you will do

• Design, automate, deploy, and operate infrastructure, container platforms, CI/CD pipelines, configuration management, observability, and platform services.
• Provision and manage Linux-based environments, containerized workloads, applications, databases, data pipelines, and AI/ML infrastructure.
• Develop deployment workflows, artifact repositories, secrets management, monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability capabilities.
• Support networking, scalability, high availability, patching, vulnerability remediation, backup, and disaster recovery.
• Troubleshoot infrastructure, deployment, networking, performance, and reliability issues while documenting architecture and operational procedures.
• Collaborate with software engineering, data engineering, data science, AI/ML, and security teams while applying security, privacy, governance, and compliance requirements.

Requirements

• Experience with platform engineering and infrastructure automation in enterprise or Federal environments.
• Hands-on experience with Linux, containers, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, configuration management, secrets management, and artifact management.
• Experience operating infrastructure for applications, databases, data pipelines, or AI/ML workloads.
• Strong knowledge of observability, monitoring, logging, networking, scalability, high availability, patching, vulnerability remediation, backup, and recovery.
• Strong understanding of DevOps, DevSecOps, system reliability, secure infrastructure practices, technical documentation, and cross-functional collaboration.
• U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret eligibility are required. Active Top Secret clearance is highly preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience with Kubernetes, Rancher, Jenkins, self-hosted Azure DevOps, or container orchestration.
• Experience with secure Federal, on-premises, cloud, or hybrid infrastructure environments.
• Experience supporting PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Java, .NET, AI/ML, or open-source AI model infrastructure.
• Experience with service networking, platform security, centralized logging, vulnerability management, and disaster recovery solutions.
