Senior Embedded (ARM) Engineer (Quantum Computing)

Location: Siegen or Hamburg, Germany; relocation to one of these locations is required.

What you will do

• Own ARM-based embedded firmware from architecture and implementation through on-hardware debugging.
• Develop real-time software for pulse sequencing, timing coordination, and data flow across an integrated control chip.
• Write low-level drivers and board-support software for the control hardware.
• Ensure deterministic, low-latency behavior under hard real-time constraints.
• Lead firmware bring-up with electronics and physics teams and debug at the software–signal boundary.
• Define embedded engineering practices, including build, testing, release, and stack-interface processes.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional embedded software development for real-time or timing-critical systems.
• Deep experience with C and ideally C++ on ARM platforms, working close to hardware.
• Experience with bare-metal and/or RTOS environments.
• Knowledge of interrupts, DMA, timing, concurrency, and determinism.
• Experience bringing up firmware on new hardware and debugging with schematics, datasheets, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and JTAG.
• Good written and spoken English and willingness to relocate to Siegen or Hamburg, Germany.

Nice to have

• Experience with integrated SoCs, especially ARM+FPGA platforms such as Xilinx Zynq or RFSoC.
• Experience working at the software–gateware boundary with FPGA and digital-electronics engineers.
• Rust for embedded systems or Embedded Linux on ARM, including driver and kernel-module development.
• Experience with signal processing, control loops, high-speed data acquisition, precision timing, or scientific instrumentation.
• Quantum-computing or other deep-tech experience.
