Staff Software Engineer (Malware Detection)

Base salary: $170,000–$231,000 USD per year

What you will do

• Own the architecture, scale, and reliability of the shared malware scanning platform.
• Build measurement pipelines, metrics, dashboards, and feedback loops for detection coverage and precision.
• Develop scan orchestration, verdict storage, APIs, and services for Libraries, Containers, Agent Skills, and future artifact types.
• Scale deterministic static analysis and AI-assisted reasoning from threat research prototypes into production detections.
• Build customer-facing APIs for investigating, enforcing, and appealing findings, including enterprise policy management.
• Operate production scanning infrastructure through alerting, queue monitoring, verdict-before-serve guarantees, and incident response.

Requirements

• Multiple years of experience building and operating production backend or infrastructure systems with staff-level technical ownership.
• Strong Go experience or deep backend systems experience with the ability to ramp up quickly in Go.
• Experience with high-throughput, event-driven pipelines where throughput, latency, and correctness are all critical.
• Knowledge of software supply chain security, malware detection, vulnerability management, or adjacent security domains.
• Experience deploying and operating reliable, observable production services and making decisions in technically complex environments.
• Experience mentoring engineers and collaborating across Product, Security, Design, and go-to-market functions.

Nice to have

• Experience with malware detection, static analysis, software composition analysis, or vulnerability scanning.
• Familiarity with npm, PyPI, Maven, Go modules, or container registries.
• Experience with AI-assisted security analysis, sandboxing, dynamic analysis, eBPF, gVisor, seccomp, or container isolation.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.
