Senior Software Engineer (Kafka / Event Streaming)

What you will do

• Design and develop core components of a distributed event-streaming and messaging platform.
• Implement and maintain a high-scale, high-performance Kafka-protocol-compatible broker.
• Build resilient distributed services handling petabytes of data across large clusters.
• Design ordering guarantees, transactions, exactly-once processing, idempotence, repartitioning, load balancing, replication, and fault tolerance.
• Investigate complex production issues across the full Kafka produce-to-consume path.
• Collaborate with architects, researchers, and engineering teams on data infrastructure for AI, analytics, and enterprise workloads.

Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience with C/C++ software development, system design, debugging, performance optimization, and production-system integration.
• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• Deep understanding of Linux internals, including processes, threads, memory management, synchronization, I/O subsystems, and performance troubleshooting.
• Experience developing distributed systems with a focus on scalability, reliability, fault tolerance, concurrency, and high availability.
• Solid networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, routing, transport protocols, distributed communication patterns, and OSI networking layers.
• Experience designing high-performance backend services for multi-node environments, with strong debugging and root-cause analysis skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with message brokers or event-streaming systems.
• Experience with Apache Kafka internals or the Kafka wire protocol.
