Datacenter Networks Engineer (Palo Alto)

Location: Madrid, Spain; hybrid work with days divided between home and the ING MAD office

What you will do

• Manage and further develop datacenter network and Palo Alto firewall infrastructure supporting ING cloud platforms.
• Perform production firewall software upgrades, lifecycle management, and large-scale infrastructure changes.
• Troubleshoot complex firewall, routing, packet forwarding, VPN, high-availability, performance, and interoperability issues.
• Collaborate with the Product Manager, squad members, other squads, and consumers through agile ways of working.
• Improve incident, problem, change, and configuration management processes, documentation, and work instructions.
• Support security, risk, access management, vulnerability management, automation, and service-quality improvements.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of hands-on experience with enterprise Palo Alto firewalls.
• Multiple personally executed upgrades across an environment of at least 40 firewalls; policy administration alone is insufficient.
• Experience with vendor TAC/support, complex troubleshooting, and large enterprise environments.
• Broad knowledge of LAN, WAN, and datacenter environments, including routing and switching protocols such as BGP and ARP.
• Knowledge of Terraform, Python, Ansible, Azure CI/CD, API integrations, IAM controls, vulnerability management, Scrum, and DevOps practices.
• Bachelor’s degree in IT or a related discipline, networking and security proficiency, and spoken and written English at C1 level.

Nice to have

• Palo Alto Networks certifications such as PCNSA or PCNSE.
• Experience with cloud deployment and infrastructure services.
