Specialist IP & SDN Expert (IP/MPLS): Defining architecture, technology principles, and transformation roadmaps for Vodafone's international IP backhaul, IP/MPLS, and software-defined networks with an accent on resilient multi-service connectivity, orchestration, and network optimisation. Focus on designing transport and service-domain solutions, standardising data models and microservices, and leading new mobile and fixed service development.
Location: Madrid, Spain; hybrid work model with up to 20 days per year of 100% remote work from other locations.

What you will do
- Define architectural and planning guidelines for resilient, convergent, and optimised international IP backhaul networks.
- Set technology principles and roadmaps for IP/MPLS and Software Defined Networking across engineering and service domains.
- Define principles for intent-based connectivity services, including data models, microservices, and transport-service orchestration.
- Act as a subject-matter expert and technology lead for converged networking and new mobile and fixed product development.
- Coordinate with operating companies, product management, enterprise technology, sales, strategy, customer services, IT, and suppliers.
- Define network KPIs, analyse traffic and efficiency, and document complex transport backhaul transformations.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of technical experience in IP architecture, design, testing, or operations across Internet and enterprise environments.
- Deep knowledge of IP/MPLS technologies, including MPLS, BGP, IS-IS, OSPF, Ethernet, VPNs, QoS, BNGs, multicast, IPv6, NFV, and security gateways.
- Deep knowledge of SDN technologies, including RESTCONF, NETCONF, PCEP, BGP-LS, gRPC telemetry, and YANG.
- Programming and automation skills with Python, Ansible, Puppet, or similar tools.
- Strong architectural, communication, presentation, security, planning, and network KPI analysis skills.
- CCIE or an equivalent certification is preferred.
