Principal Lead Field Applications Engineer (Processor IP, Software, and Custom Silicon)

Location: Santa Clara, United States; field-based role supporting customers across North America.

Salary: $145,000–$236,000 per year.

What you will do

• Serve as the primary technical interface for customers during pre-sales and early development.
• Lead customer presentations, architectural reviews, product demonstrations, and technical evaluations.
• Drive design-in activities and support design wins for CPU IP licensing, custom silicon programs, and software solutions.
• Guide customers on processor IP integration, software toolchains, development environments, and system architecture.
• Translate customer requirements into feedback for product and engineering teams while supporting proposals, RFIs, and business development.
• Engage software, EDA, and design-services ecosystem partners through workshops, demonstrations, and industry events.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in field applications, applications, or design engineering.
• Experience with semiconductor IP, SoC/ASIC development, embedded systems, or Industrial, Automotive, or IDM electronics.
• Knowledge of processor architectures, embedded software development including compilers, SDKs, and operating systems, and system-level integration.
• Proven customer engagement and design-win experience with strong communication, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
• Fluent English required; ability to operate independently in a field-based role.

Nice to have

• Experience with the RISC-V ecosystem or CPU IP integration.
• Experience supporting Industrial, Automotive, or IDM customers in North America.
• Experience with SoC development and custom silicon implementation flows.
• Understanding of functional safety standards or design requirements.
