Equipment Development Engineer (Medical Devices)

Location: Lausanne, Vaud, Switzerland; site work at the Tolochenaz facility and machine-builder locations is required.

Salary: CHF 92,000–138,000 per year.

What you will do

• Translate Voice of Operations and Voice of Process requirements into URS, functional specifications, and initial Machine FMEA assessments.
• Participate in design reviews with machine builders for custom automated and semi-automated equipment.
• Evaluate mechanical assemblies, electrical schematics, control logic, safety systems, PLC/HMI functionality, sensors, vision systems, and cycle times.
• Execute FAT at machine-builder facilities and coordinate equipment delivery, utilities, SAT, and punch-list resolution at the manufacturing site.
• Draft and execute IQ protocols covering physical, electrical, utility, software, and calibration requirements under ISO 13485.
• Prepare as-built documentation, spare-parts lists, and maintenance manuals, and support technician and process-engineering training before OQ/PQ.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechatronics, Automation, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
• 2–4 years of practical experience in equipment engineering and automated machinery, ideally in medical devices, pharma, or precision engineering.
• Practical knowledge of automated and semi-automated production equipment, mechatronics, PLCs, robotics, pneumatics, and vision systems.
• Hands-on experience with URS, FAT, SAT, and IQ milestones.
• Fluency in French and English, written and spoken, is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with a custom equipment manufacturer, machine builder, or automation integrator.
• Hands-on experience with SolidWorks and machinery safety or CE standards.
