Senior Flight Software Engineer (Rust/C++)

Salary: $160,000–$200,000 per year plus equity

What you will do

• Create software architecture for real-time, fault-tolerant control of spacecraft with power levels above 20 kW.
• Develop software for propulsion, guidance and attitude control, thermal, power, and communications subsystems.
• Design and implement state machines for robust spacecraft operation.
• Build tools and infrastructure for reliable development, testing, and rapid deployment of quality code.
• Perform data analysis and anomaly investigation to identify and resolve software defects.
• Support spacecraft subsystem integration and testing.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, mathematics, or another STEM discipline, or 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Development experience with Rust, C/C++, Python, VHDL, and SystemVerilog.
• Must be a U.S. person under ITAR or otherwise eligible for a federally issued export control license.
• Ability to develop software for real-time, mission-critical spacecraft systems.

Nice to have

• Spacecraft flight software, hard real-time embedded systems, Linux systems programming, or driver development experience.
• Experience with CI/CD, software verification, testing, performance analysis, and debugging.
• Knowledge of electronics, computer architecture, control systems, state machines, or Extended Kalman Filters.
• Experience with fault-tolerant software and hardware-in-the-loop or hardware-out-of-the-loop test systems.
