Associate Scientific Editor (Photovoltaics)

What you will do

• Manage photovoltaic research manuscripts through the editorial and peer-review process.
• Evaluate submissions for scientific quality, technical rigor, originality, significance, and relevance.
• Commission reviews, perspectives, commentaries, and other content from leading researchers.
• Identify emerging directions in photovoltaics and help shape Joule’s scientific coverage.
• Travel to international conferences, workshops, and research institutions to engage with scientists and promote the journal.
• Collaborate with Cell Press editorial teams on manuscript transfers and broader strategic projects.

Requirements

• PhD in a field relevant to Joule’s scope.
• Significant research expertise in photovoltaics, including relevant materials, device physics, solar cell technologies, stability, manufacturing, or scale-up.
• Ability to think conceptually and critically across broad scientific and technical topics.
• Strong networks within the global energy research community and ability to engage with researchers at all career stages.
• Excellent written and oral English communication skills, including the ability to explain complex scientific ideas and editorial decisions clearly.
• Prior editorial experience is preferred; strong early-career research candidates may also be considered.
