Staff ML Engineer – Search & Discovery Relevance (AI)

Salary: $174,000–$299,000 per year

What you will do

• Build end-to-end Search & Discovery systems and next-generation AI products.
• Design and optimize machine learning infrastructure across serving, pipelines, and model development.
• Improve search relevance, query understanding, and overall search quality through deep learning and large language modeling.
• Drive key technical developments, remove blockers, and maintain operational excellence.
• Identify high-impact opportunities using metrics and collaborate with partner teams and senior Search leadership.
• Recruit and develop machine learning engineering talent.

Requirements

• 6+ years of industry experience in technology companies.
• Broad and deep knowledge of information retrieval, deep learning, large language modeling, data processing, and real-time serving.
• Experience delivering large and complex systems with significant business impact.
• Strong system design, problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Ability to work in Mountain View, USA.

Nice to have

• Experience with search and recommendation systems.

• Experience as a technical lead or team manager.
