Research Engineer (Agentic AI/ML)

Location: On-site in New York City, Copenhagen, London, Silicon Valley, or Zurich

Salary: $200,000–$400,000 plus equity

What you will do

• Build multi-agent code-generation systems that interact with EDA tools across simulation, waveform analysis, formal verification, physical design, and chip design flows.
• Develop research prototypes for the production agentic code-generation platform and collaborate on shipping successful improvements.
• Create reinforcement-learning environments, proxy rewards, and evaluations for sequential agentic tasks while balancing speed and accuracy.
• Generate and curate datasets from RTL, testbenches, VIPs, chip specifications, silicon collateral, and agent logs, including synthetic data where appropriate.
• Run disciplined ablation studies, document results, and advance research in LLM agents, RL, constrained decoding, and program synthesis.

Requirements

• PhD in computer science, AI, or machine learning, or equivalent research experience, with publications in multi-agent RL, agentic AI, or RL for language and code.
• Strong Python and machine-learning framework experience, preferably PyTorch.
• Experience turning research into working systems and designing evaluation environments and reward models for sequential or agentic tasks.
• Fluency with EDA tools, including formal verification, simulation, and physical design.
• Experience with data acquisition and curation, including data quality and licensing considerations.
• Clear communication and effective collaboration with engineers.

Nice to have

• Research experience in program synthesis, code generation, constrained decoding, or execution-based rewards.
• Experience with offline reinforcement learning from tool traces or human corrections.
• Open-source contributions to projects such as SkyRL, verl, RLlib, Transformers, or PyTorch.
• Semiconductor or other complex technical-domain experience.
• Experience shipping research into production.
