Senior Data Scientist I (AI)

Location: Philadelphia, USA or Mexico City, Mexico

Salary: $115,400–$192,300 annual U.S. national base pay; geographic differentials may apply.

What you will do

• Design, build, and evaluate AI/ML, NLP, and generative AI solutions for scientific and knowledge-discovery applications.
• Develop LLM-powered workflows and retrieval-augmented generation systems for search, summarization, question answering, and evidence-grounded insights.
• Build intelligent retrieval, ranking, recommendation, and decision-support capabilities.
• Integrate scientific metadata, ontologies, taxonomies, and knowledge assets into scalable AI workflows.
• Establish evaluation, experimentation, and monitoring frameworks for quality, trust, performance, and reliability.
• Write production-ready Python code, collaborate with engineering teams on deployment, and provide technical leadership and mentoring.

Requirements

• Practical experience in data science, AI, machine learning, NLP, information retrieval, or a related quantitative field.
• Hands-on experience building AI/ML, NLP, generative AI, and retrieval-based systems in applied or product-focused environments.
• Expertise with LLMs, including fine-tuning, prompt engineering, grounding strategies, and responsible AI practices.
• Strong Python skills, solid machine learning fundamentals, and experience with large-scale text or content-rich datasets.
• Experience with RAG, semantic, vector, or hybrid search, plus experimentation and evaluation methods measuring user impact.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, modern software engineering practices, communication, collaboration, and mentoring.
