Staff Software Engineer (Node.js/TypeScript)

Location: Hybrid, with work locations in San Francisco, Roseville, Irvine, Austin, Plano, West Palm Beach, New York, and Seattle

Salary: $155,400–$193,500 per year

What you will do

• Architect, design, and evolve scalable, high-performance APIs and backend services for contractor financial tools.
• Build secure and reliable payment capabilities and other financial workflows.
• Integrate internal and external systems while keeping services maintainable and extensible.
• Work with Product, Design, Finance, Risk, and Operations to translate business needs into resilient technical solutions.
• Own the software development lifecycle from technical design and implementation through testing, deployment, and post-launch support.
• Improve operational excellence through observability, documentation, monitoring, alerting, incident response, and engineering mentorship.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software development experience with deep backend expertise in Node.js, TypeScript, and NestJS.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS.
• Strong system design experience building scalable, reliable, and secure distributed systems and APIs.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, leadership-oriented mindset.
• Commitment to clean, maintainable code, mentoring, and continuous improvement.

Nice to have

• Experience building B2B SaaS, fintech, or business operations products.
• Experience with event-driven architectures, domain-driven design, or complex third-party integrations.
