TL;DR
Senior DevOps and Data Engineer (AWS/Data Platform): Building and operating AWS infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and data pipelines for Proofpoint’s analytics platform with an accent on reliability, automation, and secure data engineering. Focus on designing DataOps tooling, scaling Glue and Airflow environments, implementing observability, and resolving complex data-platform incidents.
Location: Hybrid in Cordoba, Argentina

What you will do
- Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines for AWS Glue ETL jobs, Athena views, and data infrastructure.
- Build and manage AWS infrastructure with Terraform and/or AWS CDK, including S3, IAM, Glue, Athena, Lake Formation, VPCs, and supporting services.
- Develop the DataOps platform with self-service tooling, pipeline templates, and shared libraries for production-grade data pipelines.
- Operate observability, container, compute, and workflow orchestration environments using CloudWatch, Datadog, Docker, ECS/EKS, Lambda, MWAA, Airflow, and Step Functions.
- Build and maintain PySpark-based AWS Glue ETL jobs for large-scale ingestion and transformation across the S3 data lake.
- Lead incident response, root-cause analysis, security improvements, architecture reviews, and mentoring for junior engineers.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in DevOps, platform engineering, or site reliability engineering, including at least 2 years of hands-on data engineering.
- Deep expertise with AWS services including S3, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch, Lambda, ECS/EKS, Secrets Manager, and CloudFormation/CDK.
- Hands-on experience with AWS Glue, Athena, S3, data catalogs, ETL jobs, crawlers, query tuning, and federated queries.
- Production experience with Terraform and/or AWS CDK, CI/CD systems, Docker, and ECS, EKS, or Kubernetes.
- Experience designing observability systems for data and platform services, including metrics, logging, tracing, and alerting.
- Strong communication skills for explaining operational concerns and engineering trade-offs to technical and non-technical audiences.
Nice to have
- Experience with Kafka, Kinesis, or Glue Streaming ETL and data quality frameworks such as Great Expectations or Deequ.
- Knowledge of Apache Iceberg, Delta Lake, and lakehouse patterns.
- Background in cybersecurity, threat intelligence, or security-data analytics.
- AWS professional certifications or experience with cloud cost optimization tooling.
