Senior Security Engineer (Cybersecurity Posture, Hygiene & AI)

Location: Remote within the United States; the position can be based virtually anywhere in the U.S.

Salary: $96,500–$183,500 per year

What you will do

• Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and consultation to improve cybersecurity posture and hygiene programs.
• Prioritize risk-based remediation of configuration drift across on-premises and hosted assets.
• Develop Python, Bash, and PowerShell scripts that use application APIs to collect and verify cybersecurity posture data.
• Create dashboards and alerts for configuration drift and remediation activities.
• Partner with engineers and cybersecurity stakeholders to document CIS baselines and expand continuous-monitoring coverage.
• Apply AI and machine learning responsibly in security workflows by validating generated insights and aligning outputs with security baselines and risk tolerance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with 6 years of experience, master’s degree with 5 years, or PhD with 0 years in information security or related functions.
• Strong knowledge of continuous monitoring and configuration-drift tools, including Tenable, CrowdStrike, and Windows Defender.
• Proficiency with Splunk for data analysis and security monitoring.
• Expert knowledge of operating systems, networking protocols, system administration, X-as-a-Service models, applications, and security technologies.
• Knowledge of CIS Critical Security Controls, NIST CSF, and NIST 800-53 frameworks.
• Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, and autonomous working skills.

Nice to have

• Professional cybersecurity certifications such as CISSP, CEH, CompTIA Security+, CCSP, or GSEC.
