Associate Director, Portfolio Insights

Salary: $141,500–$268,500 per year

What you will do

• Lead strategic initiatives across portfolio valuation, prioritization, R&D productivity, and capital allocation.
• Enhance the Quarterly Portfolio Prioritization process to direct R&D investment toward the highest-value opportunities.
• Modernize valuation methodologies, including AI/ML-driven probability of technical and regulatory success assessments.
• Develop risk-adjusted net present value, Productivity Index, scenario analyses, dashboards, and other portfolio insights.
• Prepare recommendations and executive narratives for portfolio reviews, R&D planning, and long-range financial planning.
• Collaborate with portfolio governance, R&D, finance, commercial, and business development stakeholders while building data-driven decision-making capabilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or business field is required; an advanced degree such as PharmD, PhD, MD, or MBA is highly preferred.
• Six or more years of experience with a bachelor’s degree, four or more with a master’s degree, or two or more with a doctorate.
• Experience in management consulting and R&D strategy or portfolio prioritization projects is strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of pharmaceutical R&D processes, investment stage-gating, and commercial forecasting.
• Ability to lead complex strategic initiatives, manage multiple workstreams, challenge assumptions, and operate effectively in ambiguous environments.
• Excellent analytical, communication, executive presentation, and project management skills.
