Technical Program Manager - Body & Closures (Automotive)

Location: Foster City, California, United States. Workplace: On-site.

Base salary: $169,000–$203,000 per year, plus potential RSUs, stock appreciation rights, and sign-on bonus.

Zoox is developing a fully autonomous vehicle fleet and the supporting mobility ecosystem, combining robotics, machine learning, and vehicle design.

What you will do

• Lead vehicle programs covering body structures, doors, mechanisms, glazing, and related closures.
• Coordinate engineering execution with internal teams, suppliers, quality, procurement, service, and manufacturing partners.
• Manage BOM integrity, build processes, schedules, cost engineering, quality initiatives, and on-time component delivery.
• Identify technical risks, lead mitigation plans, and drive critical design and build issues through root-cause analysis to closure.
• Lead design reviews, DFMEAs, validation programs, and manufacturing mock-builds to optimize performance, cost, quality, manufacturability, and serviceability.
• Support design engineering using first-principles methods in CATIA and 3DEXPERIENCE.

Requirements

• B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 6+ years of automotive engineering experience focused on body and closures and technical project management.
• Proficiency with CATIA V5/V6, PLM and BOM management, FMEA/FTA, 8D, Fishbone, and project management tools.
• Experience designing for crash, NVH, reliability, strength, and corrosion attributes.
• Experience managing complex cross-functional projects, external design suppliers, contract manufacturers, outsource engineering, and end-to-end NPI.
• Ability to travel globally as required and communicate effectively with engineers, suppliers, manufacturing teams, and executive management.

Nice to have

• Experience at an automotive OEM.
• Familiarity with hardware and firmware development, vehicle CAN, and firmware.
• Interest in electronic and autonomous mobility.
