Senior Developer, Payments (Fintech)

Location: Remote within Canada; candidates must be legally entitled to work for any employer in Canada. Optional access to the downtown Toronto office is available, with regular off-sites and team events across North America.

Salary: $150,000–$160,000 CAD annually

What you will do

• Design, build, and scale payment processor integrations and payment infrastructure, including retries and reconciliation.
• Establish architecture, patterns, and engineering practices for payment systems.
• Build end-to-end payment features across database models, APIs, and user interfaces.
• Improve reliability, monitoring, alerting, and incident response for payment-critical systems.
• Investigate fraud, disputes, failed payments, invoicing issues, and billing-related customer problems.
• Support PCI-DSS and other compliance requirements while collaborating with Engineering, Product, Finance, Support, Legal, and Information Security.

Requirements

• 8+ years of relevant full-stack development experience in a B2B SaaS or customer-focused environment.
• Hands-on experience with payments, billing, or fintech systems, including payment processor integrations; Stripe experience is strongly preferred.
• Strong .NET and C# skills, with experience in TypeScript and Angular, AngularJS/jQuery, or React.
• Knowledge of PCI compliance, chargebacks, disputes, reconciliation, fraud and risk fundamentals, and embedded payment experiences.
• Daily experience with AI-assisted coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot, including critically evaluating generated code.
• Must be based in Canada and already have the legal right to work there; work permit or visa sponsorship is unavailable.

Nice to have

• Experience at a fintech company or on a dedicated payments or billing team.
• Experience with multi-currency payments, sales tax or VAT compliance, Stripe Tax, Avalara, or international payments.
• Experience with AWS services including MongoDB, S3, SQS, and Lambda.
• Interest in scalable, secure systems within the health and wellness industry.
