2027 Summer Intern - Civil Engineering, Water Resources

Location: Bloomington, Minnesota, United States; primarily on-site at the office or an assigned project site, with possible flexible or hybrid arrangements

What you will do

• Assist a Professional Engineer or Hydrologist with the design and modeling of stormwater drainage systems.
• Develop transportation infrastructure plans and technical documentation.
• Support plan development for water resources and drainage projects.
• Prepare technical reports and specifications with the project team.
• Work alongside engineers, designers, and technicians on transportation infrastructure projects.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with an emphasis on water resources, hydrology, or hydraulics.
• Previous experience or training with CADD software, including MicroStation and AutoCAD.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to ask questions, participate in discussions, and collaborate with team members.
• Availability for 40 hours per week during the summer of 2027, from May 25 through August 13, with occasional overtime.

Nice to have

• Experience with GIS and drainage software such as SWMM, P8, or HEC programs.
• Knowledge of MnDOT design and plan standards.
