Senior Staff Electro-Optic Systems Architect (AI Photonics)

Location: Boston, MA; Mountain View, CA; or Toronto, ON. Flexible, hybrid workplace model. Candidates should have capacity to comply with U.S. federally mandated export control requirements.

What you will do

• Develop high-performance electro-optic architecture solutions for high-volume products.
• Model electro-optic systems using Cadence photonics-analog simulators, VPI Photonics, and Keysight ADS.
• Design end-to-end electrical-optical-electrical links that meet customer requirements.
• Co-design silicon photonic devices with photonics architecture and design teams.
• Validate models through high-speed RF experiments, proof-of-concept testing, prototype measurements, and data analysis.
• Collaborate with electronics and photonics engineers, and document and present technical contributions to internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a similar discipline with at least 5 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with at least 8 years of relevant experience.
• At least 3 years of experience in electronic-photonic-electronic systems simulation and at least 2 years of experience testing and measuring high-speed photonic optical modulators and receivers.
• Proficiency with Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre, Verilog-A, Ansys HFSS, and Keysight ADS.
• Advanced coding skills in Python or Matlab, RF/mm-wave analog circuit design, and optical communication link modeling.
• Experience with corner analysis, Monte Carlo analysis, and collaboration across photonics and electronics teams.
• Ability to comply with U.S. export control requirements.

Nice to have

• Product development or industry project experience.
• Silicon photonic integrated circuit design and testing experience.
• Knowledge of signal processing, signal integrity, SERDES, and mixed-signal interfaces in optical communications.
• Strong publication record and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
