Program Manager (Space and Defense)

Location: San Diego, CA; Folsom, CA; Reno, NV; Huntsville, AL; Penrose, CO; or Pueblo, CO. The position requires U.S. citizenship, eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance, and compliance with U.S. export-control requirements.

Salary: $140,000–$195,000 base salary annually. California pay range: $140,000–$193,000.

What you will do

• Lead planning, execution, and delivery of complex embedded systems programs for defense and space customers.
• Own cost, schedule, technical scope, risk, quality, contractual deliverables, and customer satisfaction.
• Build integrated program plans, schedules, risk registers, action trackers, deliverable trackers, and executive status reports.
• Coordinate execution across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, contracts, finance, business development, customers, and leadership.
• Identify blockers and dependencies, develop mitigation plans, and lead recovery efforts for challenged programs.
• Support contracts, proposals, statements of work, change orders, customer communications, and compliance with DFARS, ITAR, and government contracting requirements.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance are required.
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, computer, aerospace, systems, mechanical, or another related engineering discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in program management, technical program management, engineering program leadership, or related roles.
• Experience with defense, space, or other highly regulated technical programs and cross-functional execution.
• Experience with contracts, statements of work, deliverables, milestones, customer obligations, DFARS, prime contracts, subcontractor flow-downs, and ITAR environments.
• Knowledge of firm-fixed-price and cost-plus contracts, Earned Value Management, cost and schedule performance tracking, and technical risk management.

Nice to have

• Experience in a startup, growth-stage, or small-company environment.
• Experience with prime contractors, government customers, or major defense and space customers.
• Background in embedded software, electronics, avionics, spacecraft systems, defense electronics, communications systems, or mission systems.
• Experience with proposals, customer negotiations, contract modifications, and program financial reviews.
• Advanced degree in engineering, business, or a related technical field.
