Principal Electrical Engineer, Radio Frequency (RF)

Location: Onsite near Centennial, Colorado or Long Beach, California, United States

Salary: $190,000–$275,000 base salary annually, plus equity and benefits

What you will do

• Architect multi-mission RF systems across S, X, Ka, and other frequency bands.
• Define communication architectures and validate end-to-end link performance across programs.
• Oversee RF verification, payload qualification, and consistent delivery standards across concurrent missions.
• Set the company-wide EMI/EMC strategy and engage with spectrum authorities and regulatory bodies.
• Shape long-term RF strategy, technical narratives, and executive-level decisions.
• Grow senior RF engineering talent and represent RF capabilities with customers, partners, and industry forums.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; a Master’s or PhD is strongly preferred.
• 14+ years of progressive RF engineering experience, including spacecraft or space-borne communication systems.
• Experience architecting and delivering multi-mission, multi-band RF communication systems for space or missile defense.
• Deep expertise in RF components, subsystem architecture, link analysis, EMI/EMC, testing, and qualification.
• Experience with regulatory bodies, spectrum authorities, or standards organizations.
• Must be located near the Centennial, Colorado or Long Beach, California locations and able to meet onsite work requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience with classified space communication systems and NSA Type 1 encryption.
• Expertise in satellite communication link optimization and technology trade studies.
• Experience with ITU/FCC spectrum coordination and regulatory filing committees.
• Publications, patents, or conference presentations in RF, microwave engineering, or space communications.
• Experience in a high-growth aerospace startup and external industry leadership.
