Senior Staff Network Engineer (AI Cloud)

Location: Hybrid, with presence in the Bellevue or San Francisco office four days per week; Tuesday is the designated work-from-home day.

Salary: $324,000–$432,000 annually in Bellevue; $360,000–$480,000 annually in San Francisco.

What you will do

• Own the end-to-end architecture of major network areas and operate them in production.
• Lead multi-team networking projects from design and build through deployment.
• Write architecture designs, RFCs, and reviews while setting technical standards.
• Serve as the escalation point for complex routing, packet-path, firmware, and production issues.
• Automate network operations, telemetry, observability, and self-healing capabilities.
• Qualify network hardware and software, mentor engineers, and contribute to long-term network strategy and on-call operations.

Requirements

• Experience owning the technical direction of a significant production network area.
• Experience leading large-scale networking projects across multiple teams.
• Expertise in data center, backbone, and internet networking with a focus on availability, performance, low latency, and fast convergence.
• Experience with cloud provider networking, Linux networking internals, and network APIs.
• Strong automation skills with Python, Ansible, Jinja, and Git or similar source control.
• Production experience with multiple vendors, including Arista, Juniper, Cisco, Cumulus/SONiC, and Opengear.

Nice to have

• Experience with software-defined networks and automated network configuration.
• Hands-on experience with HPC/AI networking, including RoCEv2, InfiniBand, congestion control, VLs, partitions, or GPUDirect RDMA.
• Experience with DWDM technologies or SD-WAN.
