Materials Analyst, TEM

Location: Milpitas, California, United States. On-site role with a Tuesday–Saturday or Sunday–Thursday schedule from 5:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.

Salary: USD 85,000–100,000 per year, plus applicable shift differential.

What you will do

• Obtain TEM and STEM images from prepared samples.
• Collect STEM/EDX and STEM/EELS spectra, line scans, and maps.
• Organize analytical data and prepare summary reports for customers.
• Partner with customers and colleagues to optimize experiments and explain results.
• Develop TEM analysis protocols for new sample types.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Person under ITAR regulations: a U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in materials science and engineering or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
• Strong operational and theoretical knowledge of transmission electron microscopy.
• Experience with TEM sample preparation and hard materials characterization.
• Understanding of electron microscopy, semiconductor device physics, and failure analysis.
• The role is intended for BS- to MS-level candidates and is not aligned with PhD-level graduate experience.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with aberration-correction TEM.
• Experience with FEI TEM tools, Oxford or Bruker EDS, Gatan EELS, and Digital Micrograph.
