Intermediate Developer (Backend)

Location: Remote within the United States and Canada; employees must work from their home country and be available for occasional in-person travel.

Annual base salary: USD 123,000–172,000 for US-based roles; CAD 111,000–155,000 for Canada-based roles.

What you will do

• Build, test, debug, deliver, and maintain production software for enterprise features.
• Develop functionality for multi-tenancy, linked accounts, policy management, and admin console experiences.
• Help transition policy services from a monolithic application toward a microservice architecture across multiple services and codebases.
• Collaborate with cross-functional and partner teams across authentication, authorization, insights, and managed service providers.
• Contribute to architecture and design documents, technical planning, code reviews, documentation, and scalable implementation decisions.
• Mentor junior and new team members, participate in on-call rotations, and resolve production emergencies.

Requirements

• 2+ years of software development experience.
• Experience with a modern backend language such as Go, Node.js, Ruby, or Python.
• Experience applying software development best practices and coding standards.
• Ability to solve moderately complex problems and propose effective solutions.
• Experience communicating and collaborating across teams, including explaining technical concepts to non-technical partners.
• Interest in testing methodologies and debugging techniques that support high-quality code.
• Comfort working across multiple services and collaborating with other teams to deliver complete solutions.

Nice to have

• DevOps experience alongside application development.
• Experience with Kubernetes and infrastructure configuration.
• Experience with microservices or distributed systems.
• Experience building frontends with TypeScript and React.
• Exposure to security, enterprise, or admin-focused products.
