Junior Manufacturing Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Lansing, Michigan, United States. Onsite role at Bridgewater Interiors IV. 1st shift: 6:00 AM–3:30 PM, with flexibility for overtime and off-shift support during major process changes or launches.

What you will do

• Support the design, development, implementation, and optimization of manufacturing processes, methods, tooling, equipment, and controls.
• Analyze labor utilization, equipment requirements, workflow, layouts, line balancing, and production performance to improve efficiency.
• Participate in prototype builds, new program launches, production readiness activities, and product design reviews.
• Support process improvement, cost reduction, quality improvement, inventory, process capability, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Help select and develop tooling and equipment, coordinate training for new processes, and establish poka-yoke systems.
• Collaborate with production, engineering, ergonomics, health and safety, and management teams while providing technical support and status updates.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 0–2 years of manufacturing engineering or related manufacturing experience; internships and co-op experience are acceptable.
• Basic understanding of product design, assembly processes, manufacturing documentation, PFMEA principles, Process Flows, and Control Plans.
• Proficiency with Windows and Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Strong communication, organizational, analytical, time-management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Willingness to learn hands-on manufacturing processes and relocate to other facilities in the future as needed.

Nice to have

• Automotive manufacturing internship or co-op experience.
• Knowledge of assembly sequencing, line balancing, production flow optimization, lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement.
• Basic CAD knowledge, such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
• Experience presenting technical information to diverse audiences.
