(Senior) Consultant Energy System Planning (AI)

Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands; hybrid work from home, the client, or the Amsterdam office.

What you will do

• Support clients in the energy and utilities sector through the transition to new models of energy generation, transportation, distribution, and consumption.
• Develop integrated energy system planning approaches and tools for long-term grid planning and system integration across power and gas.
• Analyze energy policies, scenarios, infrastructure challenges, storage, and conversion solutions that improve system flexibility.
• Contribute to grid planning decisions by assessing costs, socio-economic welfare, and CO2 impacts.
• Combine stakeholder management, business analysis, project management, optimization, data analysis, and reporting.
• Contribute to strategy, business development, recruitment, knowledge sharing, and training within the consulting team.

Requirements

• Degree in energy systems, sustainable energy technologies, or a related field.
• At least 4 years of relevant work experience or a PhD.
• Experience with long-term scenarios, large-scale projects, energy policy, and integrated energy system planning.
• Good understanding of DSO and TSO business and operations, with strong analytical, numerical, and conceptual skills.
• Professional Dutch and English language skills are required; non-Dutch speakers will not be accepted.
• Work permit sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Consulting experience, preferably with a grid operator.
• Fluent German language skills.
• Interest in data and AI-related topics and the ability to build expertise in these areas.
