Manager, Data Engineering Software Quality (Automotive)

Location: Hybrid, with a minimum of three days per week in the office; Oshawa is preferred, with Markham also available.

Salary: $147,000–$196,600 per year.

What you will do

• Lead and develop a software quality and test engineering team, including hiring, coaching, performance management, succession planning, and career development.
• Define quality strategies, standards, release-readiness criteria, and risk-based validation approaches for device data capture and data engineering.
• Guide test automation architecture, frameworks, tooling, and technical problem-solving while remaining hands-on.
• Direct functional, performance, and exposure testing on AVSS vehicles and create bench and vehicle test environments.
• Establish quality metrics, analyze test results, identify trends, and maintain traceability and reporting.
• Coordinate validation priorities and release decisions with Systems Engineering and Operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Automotive Technology, or a related field.
• 10+ years of vehicle and/or embedded software testing experience, including hands-on automotive systems experience.
• 3+ years of direct engineering team leadership or management, including hiring, performance management, and team development.
• Experience developing and executing test strategies with contemporary methodologies, tools, and large-scale test automation.
• Programming or scripting experience with C/C++, Java, or Python, plus proficiency with Robot Framework and continuous integration tools such as Jenkins or Azure DevOps.

Nice to have

• Experience with automotive HIL and SIL testing tools such as dSPACE/ControlDesk or ETAS/INCA.
• Knowledge of CAN, OBD-II, LIN, and Ethernet vehicle communication protocols.
• Familiarity with ISO 26262, CI/CD tools, cloud platforms, Docker, and Kubernetes.
