Academic Advisor I (Higher Education/Student Success): Advising undergraduate students on academic goals, degree requirements, course selection, registration processes, and career options with an accent on student engagement, retention, and academic progress monitoring. Focus on building student relationships, identifying support needs, coordinating success and retention initiatives, and guiding students through complex university policies and procedures.
Location: College Station, Texas, United States; onsite full-time
Salary: $3,750 per month; the posting also states a starting salary of $45,000 per year.

What you will do
- Advise undergraduate students on academic and career goals, majors, minors, future education options, and course selection.
- Explain and support academic processes, including registration, add/drop, withdrawals, curriculum changes, transfer credits, and exception requests.
- Review academic records, monitor degree progress, and provide guidance regarding probation, completion requirements, and intervention needs.
- Build relationships with students through in-person and online outreach, keeping them informed about deadlines, events, and relevant resources.
- Assist with student success, retention, advising events, academic campaigns, and departmental initiatives.
- Complete up to 20% annual training and perform other assigned duties.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree.
- No prior professional experience required.
- Ability to build effective relationships, communicate clearly, listen actively, collaborate, research information, and manage simultaneous projects.
- Ability to use word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
- Ability to work with confidential information and comply with applicable laws, regulations, and university policies.
- Availability to work beyond normal office hours and/or on weekends when required; the position is security sensitive.
