Lead Backend Engineer (AdTech)

Location: Petah Tikva, Israel; hybrid work environment, and only candidates local to the posting location will be considered.

What you will do

• Architect, develop, and deliver scalable, highly available backend services for a real-time ad exchange.
• Optimize performance for ultra-low latency and high throughput under massive concurrent loads.
• Lead major technical initiatives, conduct code reviews, establish engineering standards, and mentor junior and mid-level engineers.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Data Scientists, DevOps, and other engineering teams to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.
• Own services in production, including monitoring, alerting, observability, incident resolution, and predictable migrations.
• Improve deployment pipelines and cloud infrastructure using Kubernetes and GCP, while applying AI coding assistants and agentic tools.

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend software development experience focused on large-scale distributed systems.
• Expertise in at least one statically typed backend language: Scala, Java, Kotlin, Go, Rust, or C++.
• Experience building and maintaining high-throughput, low-latency, real-time systems.
• Strong knowledge of software architecture, microservices, design patterns, and object-oriented and/or functional programming.
• Experience scaling relational and NoSQL databases, plus Docker, Kubernetes, and a major cloud platform such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• B.Sc. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical or military experience.

Nice to have

• AdTech experience, particularly with ad exchanges, DSPs, or SSPs.
• Knowledge of reactive programming or advanced concurrency models.
• Experience with Kafka, Flink, or Spark.
