Baking Technology Specialist

Location: Remote, with approximately 80–90% domestic travel and occasional weekend work.

Salary: $105,100–$147,100 annually.

Large-scale baking company producing breads, buns, breakfast products, cakes, donuts, muffins, and bagels through bakeries, sales centers, offices, and sales routes across the United States.

What you will do

• Provide baking technology support to assigned bakeries and co-pack operations, covering ingredients, formulas, processes, equipment, quality, consistency, and safety.
• Troubleshoot bakery issues, investigate consumer complaints and product quality concerns, and implement corrective actions.
• Support R&D, Marketing, and Engineering trials involving new formulas, ingredients, equipment, and technologies.
• Coordinate product scale-up and commercialization, including test bakes, launch timing, formula audits, and post-launch adjustments.
• Lead continuous improvement, productivity, cost-saving, reformulation, sustainability, and waste-reduction initiatives using statistical tools.
• Coach bakery associates on ingredient functionality, equipment, and baking processes; document trip results and communicate follow-ups to Operations leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in food science, food engineering, or a related field; equivalent education, training, and experience may be considered.
• At least five years of experience evaluating baking process technologies, troubleshooting issues, and providing recommendations.
• At least five years of experience with root-cause and statistical analysis for continuous improvement.
• At least five years of experience presenting data-analysis reports to plant or engineering management.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, with strong written communication, attention to detail, and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.
• Ability to travel domestically approximately 80–90% of the time and occasionally work weekends.
