Reactor Hardware Engineering Analysis Intern

Location: On-site five days per week at the Torrance, California headquarters in the Los Angeles area; remote and hybrid arrangements are not available.

Salary: $34 per hour. Interns also receive a relocation and housing stipend.

What you will do

• Build CFD models of reactor components to evaluate fluid flow, heat transfer, and performance.
• Build FEA models to assess thermal and structural behavior.
• Develop Python tools for design sizing and evaluation.
• Process and interpret test data, comparing results with analytical and numerical predictions.
• Define model assumptions, boundary conditions, convergence, sensitivity, and model fidelity.
• Own a long-duration project through technical documentation and a final presentation while collaborating with engineering mentors and cross-functional partners.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in mechanical, aerospace, nuclear, chemical, or another relevant engineering discipline and entering the junior or senior year.
• Prior internship experience or more than one year of significant project, laboratory, or research experience.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, and technical communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment and take initiative.
• Must be eligible under U.S. Government export regulations as a U.S. citizen or national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or eligible to obtain the required authorizations.

Nice to have

• GPA of 3.5 or above.
• Experience with Python, engineering data analysis, CFD, FEA, CAD, MATLAB, or related modeling tools.
• Coursework or project experience in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, numerical methods, or solid mechanics.
• University organization or leadership experience.
