What you will do

  • Design, scale up, troubleshoot, and optimize chemical processes for pilot and production operations.
  • Perform mass and energy balances, fluid-flow, heat-transfer, mixing, and equipment-sizing calculations.
  • Support the design, specification, prototyping, commissioning, and continuous improvement of chemical process equipment and systems.
  • Design and execute DoE studies, identify critical process parameters, and use SPC and process analytics to improve performance.
  • Conduct hypothesis- and data-driven root cause analysis to resolve process and product issues.
  • Collaborate with R&D, Operations, Quality, and Marketing on technology transfer, throughput, cost, quality, safety, and reliability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related discipline; a master’s degree is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in chemical process development, scale-up, or manufacturing, or 3 years with a master’s degree.
  • Demonstrated expertise in reaction chemistry, chemical processes, unit operations, and complex process troubleshooting.
  • Experience with P&IDs, equipment matrices, and process equipment design; willingness to learn 3D piping modeling and isometric drawings.
  • Ability to use process simulation tools such as Aspen Plus, ChemCAD, or DWSIM, and analytics tools including Minitab, JMP, Python, or RStudio.
  • Strong written and oral communication, advanced mathematics, scientific document analysis, attention to detail, and collaborative self-direction.

Nice to have

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or willingness to obtain one.
  • Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
