R&D Process Engineer - Optical Fiber Manufacturing

Location: Douvrin, France; onsite work in the optical fiber plant

International optical fiber manufacturing company with an R&D Optical Fiber Business Unit.

What you will do

• Define, plan, execute, analyze, and qualify R&D projects for new optical fiber products.
• Develop and optimize draw processes for multicore, polarization-maintaining, and 80µm fibers.
• Initiate and monitor experiments and process-conversion actions to support innovation.
• Collaborate with Product, Process Control, Engineering, Maintenance, and modelisation teams.
• Prepare test reports, transfer process knowledge to plants, and organize technical training.
• Apply safety, environmental, pollution-prevention, and continuous-improvement practices in the industrial environment.

Requirements

• Bac+5 or a general engineering degree, such as École des Mines or INSA.
• First successful experience in an industrial setting.
• Professional English proficiency and Microsoft Office skills.
• Strong methodology, rigor, agility, flexibility, reliability, and versatility.
• Teamwork, management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
