Executive Director, Neurology Clinical Development

Location: Carlsbad, California; onsite, hybrid, or remote options available within the United States. Remote employees are expected to travel to the Carlsbad headquarters approximately once per quarter, plus travel for business meetings, investigator interactions, and scientific or regulatory activities.

Salary: $269,100–$339,900 per year

What you will do

• Provide strategic and operational leadership for neurology clinical development programs from early development through potential registration.
• Develop integrated development plans, target product profiles, clinical strategies, milestones, and pivotal or registrational pathways.
• Design and oversee clinical studies, including protocols, endpoints, outcome measures, dose rationale, patient populations, feasibility, and execution.
• Lead regulatory strategies, health-authority interactions, submissions, scientific communications, and clinical data interpretation.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams across Clinical Development, Operations, Statistics, Safety, Regulatory Affairs, Research, Medical Affairs, CMC, Commercial, Market Access, and Patient Advocacy.
• Manage budgets and resources while coaching, mentoring, and developing clinical development professionals.

Requirements

• MD, PhD, PharmD, or another advanced degree in medicine, neuroscience, pharmacology, biology, or a related scientific discipline.
• 15+ years of experience, including significant biopharmaceutical clinical development experience and leadership of early- to mid-stage programs.
• Experience in rare disease, pediatric neurology, neurodevelopmental disorders, epilepsy, or a closely related therapeutic area.
• Experience designing and executing clinical studies involving small or heterogeneous patient populations and complex endpoint, biomarker, or natural-history challenges.
• Experience with regulatory submissions, health-authority interactions, end-to-end drug development, and potential registration.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop direct reports and cross-functional teams.
