Process Development Sr Scientist (Mass Spectrometry)

What you will do

• Define favorable quality characteristics for therapeutic proteins and synthetic molecules and support robust manufacturing process development.
• Develop and apply sample preparation and analytical methods using chromatography, electrophoresis, and mass spectrometry, including LC-MS/MS.
• Characterize chemical modifications such as glycosylation, oxidation, deamidation, aspartate isomerization, and hydroxylation.
• Operate chromatographic, electrophoretic, and mass spectrometry platforms, including Thermo Q-Exactive and Agilent systems.
• Generate quality data, maintain accurate electronic laboratory records, and support drug development and regulatory filings.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary scientists, advance projects independently, and contribute to patents and publications.

Requirements

• Doctorate degree; or a master’s degree with at least 2 years of scientific experience; or a bachelor’s degree with at least 4 years of scientific experience.
• Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related discipline emphasizing mass spectrometry, chromatography, electrophoresis, or another analytical technique.
• At least 2 years of post-Ph.D. experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology process and product development and analytical method development.
• Hands-on experience with peptide mapping, intact and reduced LC-MS analysis, and identification and quantification of protein chemical modifications.
• Experience with Thermo Q-Exactive, Agilent mass spectrometers, Agilent and Waters HPLC/UHPLC systems, and related software such as Empower, Chromeleon, BiopharmaFinder, and MassHunter.
• Strong scientific communication, project planning, problem-solving, statistical data analysis, independent work, collaboration, and mentoring skills.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Excel, Spotfire, JMP, R, Python, C++, or machine learning languages.
• Experience with automation, robotics, or liquid handlers.
