What you will do

  • Drive the architecture and implementation of embedded firmware for devices supporting data collection.
  • Integrate embedded Linux devices with real-time sensor processing, including drivers, BSP customization, kernel configuration, hardware bring-up, and performance tuning.
  • Collaborate with Research, Hardware, Fleet, and software teams to connect new devices with current and future data pipelines.
  • Debug timing issues, race conditions, and hardware-software interface problems using hardware abstraction tools and laboratory equipment.
  • Analyze and reduce power consumption in battery-operated devices, including radio sleep states and sensor low-power modes.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience leading board bring-up and software design for first-of-their-kind embedded devices.
  • Hands-on experience with SPI, I2C, UART, and USB, including debugging complex hardware-software interactions.
  • Experience designing and debugging concurrent, multithreaded firmware services and integrating sensors on embedded systems.
  • Proficiency in C++, with familiarity with Bash scripting and Python for tooling and automation.
  • Strong understanding of operating systems, computer architecture, and compute, memory, and storage trade-offs.

Nice to have

  • Camera system bring-up, integration, and tuning experience.
  • Linux Kernel development experience, including driver development or debugging, device trees, and kernel-space performance optimization.
