AI Architect (Digital Products & AI)

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina, USA; hybrid work with at least 2 days per week in the office or on a client site, and up to 5 days per week on a client site depending on the assignment.

What you will do

• Own delivery architecture for digital products, AI agents, intelligent workflows, and platform modernization from discovery through deployment.
• Design production AI systems, including tool selection, memory and context management, guardrails, and human-in-the-loop controls.
• Build and guide retrieval pipelines, MCP services and integrations, and connections between AI capabilities, enterprise data, and business processes.
• Define security and operational resilience through access controls, identity management, deployment guardrails, and oversight of automated actions.
• Break down complex engagements into deliverable components, sequencing, implementation approaches, delivery plans, and technical risk decisions.
• Create reusable architecture patterns, tooling, and AI capabilities for future engagements and products.

Requirements

• Experience leading architecture and technical delivery for complex software, cloud, or digital transformation initiatives while building and operating production software.
• Strong software engineering skills, ideally with Python and TypeScript.
• Experience designing and delivering cloud-native systems on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Hands-on experience building production AI applications and agent-based systems, including orchestration frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, or LlamaIndex.
• Experience with retrieval-enabled systems and technologies such as pgvector, Elasticsearch, or OpenSearch.
• Experience integrating enterprise systems, data platforms, APIs, identity providers, and MCP-enabled services, with strong technical judgment and client communication skills.

• Experience in consulting, professional services, or as a technical founder.
• Industry experience in healthcare and life sciences, manufacturing, energy and utilities, transportation, or consumer industries.
• Experience building reusable platforms, tooling, or AI solutions in regulated environments.
